Live draw set-up guide
How the live draw goes from OBS on the streaming PC to the website, under a second behind. Everything here runs on Easy Big Wins' own Cloudflare account. Nothing depends on RaffleX except plain pieces on the site (a button and three pages), and those keep working however RaffleX changes.
How it fits together
- OBS Studio on the streaming PC sends the stream straight to the website (WHIP), and the Live Draw page plays it, under a second behind. No Cloudflare Stream, no per-viewer fee: Cloudflare charges by the data sent out, and the first 1,000 GB a month are free.
- The controller on your phone (open the controller) does the rest:
- goes on air, which shows the Watch our live draws button on the home page (it is hidden the rest of the time);
- sets the countdown to the next draw;
- the drum roll / computer sound and the ta-daa when drawing a winner;
- puts winners, messages, confetti and countdowns on stream;
- launches the host games (Cash Climb, Higher or Lower) - they open only for someone signed in to the controller.
Facebook does not get this stream by itself. OBS sends to one place. To be on Facebook at the same time you would need an OBS plugin for a second output - ask before setting that up.
1. OBS: install and import the scenes (once)
- Install OBS Studio (version 30 or newer) from obsproject.com.
- Download the scene file: Easy-Big-Wins-OBS.json.
- In OBS: Scene Collection → Import, pick the file, then Scene Collection → Easy Big Wins live draw. Your existing scenes are not touched.
- Settings → Video: Base (Canvas) and Output resolution 1920×1080, 30 FPS.
- Open the scene Camera (do not delete) and pick your webcam in its Webcam source.
- Open Draw window (do not delete): add a Window Capture (or Display Capture) of the random number generator or draw screen, then right-click it → Transform → Fit to screen.
- Open Game window (do not delete): launch a game from the controller first (it opens its own window called "Cash Climb — Easy Big Wins" or "Higher or Lower — Easy Big Wins"), then add a Window Capture of that browser window and Fit to screen. Launching the other game swaps the same window, so this is done once.
Each webcam can only be opened once, so the camera lives in its own scene and every other scene shows that scene. Never add a second copy of the webcam, or one of them goes black.
| Scene | When |
|---|---|
| 1 Starting Soon | Before you start: the countdown to the next draw (set it in the controller) and your competitions. |
| 2 Live Draw | The draw: the draw window and your camera. |
| 3 Host Games | Cash Climb and Higher or Lower, launched from the controller. |
| 4 Be Right Back | A short break. |
| 5 Thanks for Watching | The end. It shows the next draw if one is set. |
2. OBS: where to send the stream (once)
- In the controller, open On air → OBS stream settings. It shows the Server and the Bearer Token (the stream key), each with a Copy button.
- In OBS: Settings → Stream, Service WHIP. Paste the Server and the Bearer Token. Apply.
- Settings → Output (Output Mode: Simple is fine): video bitrate about 4000 Kbps, audio 160.
The stream key is a password: never show it on stream or send it in a message. Anyone with it could send video to your website.
3. Every live draw
- Earlier in the day, in the controller: Next live draw. Pick the competition's draw or type a time, then Save. The Live Draw page and the Starting Soon scene count down to it.
- In OBS, show 1 Starting Soon and press Start Streaming. The controller says "OBS is sending - lag-free" within a few seconds.
- In the controller, tap Off air - tap to go live. The home page shows the Watch our live draws button (within about a minute) and the Live Draw page plays the stream.
- Switch to 2 Live Draw and do the draw. From the controller: Start the draw (drum roll or computer sound until you press STOP, then the ta-daa and confetti), Shout out a winner (first name and initial only), Spotlight a competition, Message, Confetti, Gold coins.
- Host games: Host games → Launch in the controller, switch OBS to 3 Host Games, and press H in the game for its host controls.
- At the end: 5 Thanks for Watching, then in the controller tap LIVE - tap to go off air, then Stop Streaming in OBS.
4. On the website
- Home page: the Watch our live draws button, shown only while you are on air.
- Live Draw page (
/i/live-draw): the stream while you are live, a countdown otherwise. Its own page is here. - Host Games page (
/i/host-games): the two games, marked as host-only, with a Host login that comes to the controller. - Quiz Night page (
/i/quiz-night): JoltQuiz's big screen.
If something is wrong
- The controller does not say "OBS is sending": check OBS Settings → Stream (Service WHIP, Server and Bearer Token from the controller) and that OBS says it is streaming.
- The website does not show the button: go on air in the controller; the page checks once a minute.
- OBS crashed: start streaming again. The website notices a lost stream by itself within about a minute.
- A scene looks out of date after an update: controller → Reload every scene.
- The controller says signed out: sign in again. After 8 wrong passwords it waits 15 minutes.
